India received 6.43 million foreign tourists during January- September, 2023 as compared to 3.97 million in Jan-Sept 2022 and 7.66 million in Jan-Sept, 2019 registering a growth of 61.7% and -16.1% with respect to 2022 and 2019 respectively, according to the latest data issued by the Ministry of Tourism, Govt. of India.
The top five source markets for the year so far are: Bangladesh (23.97%), USA (17.06%), UK (9.29%), Canada (4.05%) and Australia (4%). This comprises of 58.4% male and 41.6% female.
Foreign Exchange Earnings (FEEs) during the period January- September 2023 were Rs. 1,66,660 crores as compared to Rs. 91,405 crores in January- September 2022 and Rs. 1,55,599 Crore in January-September,
2019 registering a growth of 82.23% and 7.11% with respect to 2022 and 2019 respectively
Foreign Tourist Arrivals (FTAs) FTAs in September, 2023 were 6.48 lakhs as compared to 5.51 lakhs in September, 2022 and 7.51 lakhs in September, 2019 registering a growth of 17.5% and -13.7% with respect to 2022 and 2019 respectively.
FEEs during the month of September 2023 were Rs. 18,534 crores as compared to Rs. 13,435
crores in September 2022 and Rs. 17,064 Crore in September, 2019 registering a growth of
37.9% and 8.61% with respect to 2022 and 2019 respectively.
