
Replaces Rakesh Verma who transferred to Department of Water Resources, River Development & Ganga Rejuvenation
Suman Billa (IAS) has been appointed as Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Tourism. He has been appointed to the post in place of Rakesh Kumar Verma (IAS) upon his appointment as Additional Secretary in the Department of Water Resources, River Development & Ganga Rejuvenation, by continuing the temporary upgradation of the Joint Secretary level post held by him.
Prior to this, Suman was working as Principal Secretary, Industries and NORKA, Govt. of Kerala.
Suman worked as Joint Secretary (Tourism), Ministry of Tourism (MoT), Govt. of India, during 2014 -19 following which he joined UNWTO as Director – Technical Cooperation & Silk Road. Suman also worked as Tourism Secretary of Govt. of Kerala.
A 1996 batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of Kerala cadre, Dr Billa has studied at the Madras Christian College, Jawaharlal Nehru University, Delhi and has been a British Chevening Gurukula Scholar at the London School of Economics.
